Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) is a versatile polymer derived from the polymerization of styrene with an expanding agent. Known for its exceptional insulation and sound-proofing capabilities, EPS is ideal for a wide range of applications. It features high impact strength, vibration resistance, and resistance to light, moisture, and physical wear. Its durability is further enhanced by resistance to hydrolysis, oils, acids, and alkaline solutions.
Applications and Benefits
In construction, EPS is commonly used to produce insulation panels for walls and ceilings, contributing to effective thermal insulation and energy efficiency. It is also employed in manufacturing thin-wall goods and fire-resistant packaging, both industrial and food-grade. EPS is available in various grades tailored to specific needs, including flame retardant options for packaging and insulation.
Grades and Applications
F50: With a bead size of 1.6-1.9 mm and a foam density of 60-75 kg/m³, F50 EPS is ideal for large-scale insulation and packaging needs, offering good flame retardant properties.
F100: Featuring a bead size of 1.2-1.6 mm and a foam density of 47-65 kg/m³, F100 is suitable for general insulation and packaging where moderate density is required.
F150: Known for its bead size of 1.0-1.2 mm and foam density of 42-60 kg/m³, F150 provides enhanced insulation and is used in both packaging and flame-retardant applications.
