Linear Alkyl Benzene

Linear Alkyl Benzene

Linear Alkyl Benzene (LAB) is primarily used in the production of Linear Alkyl Benzene Sulfonates (LAS), which are key ingredients in domestic detergents, institutional, and industrial cleaners. The LAB market, particularly for the brand “SUPERLAB,” is growing steadily and holds a dominant market share. India, as a significant consumer market in the Asia-Pacific region, presents substantial growth potential for LAB due to its emerging economic outlook.
Consortium and REACH Registration
Manufacturers and importers of LAB, Dialkyl benzene, Linear Alkylbenzene Sulphonic acid, and its sodium salt have collaborated under the LAB and Derivatives REACH consortium. This consortium aims to streamline the preparation of registration dossiers by leveraging similarities among these substances. In 2010, joint submissions for several substances, including HAB (CAS: 84961-70-6), LAB (CAS: 67774-74-7), LAS (CAS: 85536-14-7), and LAS NA (CAS: 68411-30-3), were prepared. A subsequent joint submission for HAB (mono-C12-13-alkyl derivatives fractionation bottoms) is planned for 2013.
