High purity terephthalic acid is made by mixing paraxylene and acetic acid. Polyethylene terephthalate is created by a condensation reaction between terephthalic acid and ethylene glycol.
Polyethylene terephthalate is a very economical material that is used in the production of plastic bottles and synthetic fiber.The fiber is heat resistant and excels in strength and stainability. Nearly half of manufactured clothing fiber is made from polyethylene terephthalate.
It is also possible to make synthetic fiber with many features by changing the configuration of the fiber or anti-bacterial material may be kneaded into the fiber during the process of creating synthetic fiber.

Description – Paraxylene (PX) is derived from pyrolysis gasoline (“Pygas”) and reformate. This high-purity material is a key component in producing high-purity terephthalic acid when mixed with acetic acid. Terephthalic acid then undergoes a condensation reaction with ethylene glycol to create polyethylene terephthalate (PET). PET is a cost-effective material extensively used in manufacturing plastic bottles and synthetic fibers. Notably, synthetic fibers made from PET are heat resistant, strong, and easily stainable. Approximately half of the synthetic fibers used in clothing production are derived from PET. Moreover, the properties of synthetic fibers can be enhanced by altering the fiber configuration or incorporating anti-bacterial materials during production, making them versatile for various applications.
