Toluene is a highly volatile, colorless liquid with a methyl group (CH₃) attached to a benzene ring (C₆H₆). GS Caltex produces 170,000 MTA of high-quality toluene annually, meeting the needs of a variety of industries.
Applications
• Solvent: Widely used in paints, adhesives, inks, and pharmaceuticals.
• Petrochemicals: Serves as a raw material for TDI (toluene di-isocyanate, polyurethane) and TNT.
• Chemical Production: Used in the production of benzene, xylenes, phenol, nitrobenzene, benzoic acid, and benzyl chloride.
• Polymers and Other Products: Essential in making nylon, plastic soda bottles, pharmaceuticals, dyes, and cosmetic products.
• Coolant: Acts as a coolant in sodium cold traps beneath nuclear reactor loops.
